FreeStyle Optium Blood Ketone Monitoring Device:

Also known as the Precision Xtra NFR Blood Glucose Monitoring System in America is a pretty cool little device.  Not only can it measure blood ketone level but does blood glucose as well.

Unlike the $5 basic blood glucose tester which I bought two of. One for me and one for my parents. The packet of 100 test strips came in two bottles of 50 but only one coded chip, so in effect the test strips were only good for one machine. The FreeStyle Optium / Precision Xtra NFR Blood Glucose Monitoring  does not have this issue as the strips are un coded allowing for a lot more flexibility.

 

I have found it be be a huge advantage to have the ability to measure blood glucose and ketone level with the one device.
